Another year older...

HH's birthday and it coincided with mutual friends of ours and our house guest being in town, so they and three other friends were invited for dinner. HH had set his heart on an Indonesian barbecue, so as soon as we got back from the hills, I got started on the sauces and other preparations. Our house guest had already made a batch of delicious brownies and later whipped up some delicious nibblies with figs, pawpaw and Parma ham, so that was very good news. I also made a Coronation Chicken in case the weather turned bad on us, but luckily it wasn't needed. Handyman Ronaldo turned up, bless him, and helped on and off all day, particularly with setting up the barbecue.
I might even have been ready by the time the first guests arrived, if they hadn't perpetuated a worrying trend among recent dinner guests by turning up early. Even Brits never used to turn up on time, while Brazilians are masters of the art of late entrances, but I guess everyone's worried about the traffic these days, so they allow too much time. Disgraceful - and disastrous for a chaotic hostess like me.

Anyway, the party went off very well, HH was in his element as master of the barbecue and it was lovely to see good old friends. I completely forgot about the camera, so here's a photo of a photo of the birthday boy at our younger daughter's wedding.
