Mill HIll Quarry - A little Slinkacho!
Found somewhere on a tourist information brochure that I didn't know about, so decided to set out to find it as it was quite local.
Mill Hill Quarry Nr Alford . Is a now disused chalk quarry and contains a Bowl Barrow which are funerary monuments dating from the Late Neolithic period to the Late Bronze Age.
The place itself is beautiful but not so easy to capture on camera. It was well worth the visit but didn't really have that much to see. You just soaked up the atmosphere in a place that you knew had been there for well over four thousand years. It felt very calm in some places and a little eerie in others.
We did take a few pics. My photo buddy had his slinkacho figures in his camera bag and just happened to have a sculptor - well the blip photograph today is the result of one of that. We used chalk and flint that was found around the site, and none of it was taken away.
