The Light Room

Shields of green...

I didn't want to go far afield today. I needed a rest and, with a busy few weekends coming up, thought it wisest to stay put and become more familiar with the garden. It's been a warm, muggy day, with an hour or two of nice sunshine; this brought all the insects out. It was an ideal opportunity to sit and read some more My Garden and Other Animals too. There are many flowering sources of energy right now, upon which I noted (apart from the more common ones) one Large white butterfly, three Mint moths, one Field grasshopper (whom i've met before, as he's only got one back leg!) and this immature Common green shield bug. I did some research, and this one is nearly at the point of maturity - its shape will become properly developed within a week or so.
