The Culprit
For the past few weeks, our deck has been attacked by Hickory nuts. The assault has been exacerbated by a family of squirrels, hoarding away for a cold Winter's feast.
These bright green beauties, which have fallen in whole, as illustrated here, have fallen in bits and pieces, all over the deck, and our heads, as my family has attempted to relax, and/or dine outside. Our fine furry friends have opted to remove the florescent outer coatings of their cherished foodstuffs, up on high, raining a barrage of gooey crud that is disgusting, and leaves brown stains everywhere it touches.
Mind you, several years ago, our neighbor opted to cut down six healthy trees so that he could build a brick patio and put up a trampoline for his children. He did not want to be bothered with the leaves that said shade trees would provide, and managed to displace several raccoon and squirrel families in the process.
Revenge? Perhaps.
After seeing few squirrels for years, they are back. Whether starring at me thru my kitchen window, or raining gunk on our deck, THEY'RE BACK, and they are pissed.
Being the lovechild that I am, I can't hold it against them. They don't know that it was the neighbor that cut down their former homes. What they know are nuts...and Winter...and letting humans know that Mother Nature RULES!
Moral of this story: Do not cut down healthy trees! You will be paid back in green slime.
And, that is my Blip for today.
Much love. :-)
