Today it was back to the Bridgewater canal and this time I cycled a little further a field heading towards Manchester. I only went as far as Sale before heading back home. I love to see the canals being so well used for recreational purposes these days as well as the looking at the industrial heritage of the canals and understand the part they played in the development of villages, towns and cities along the way.
This wonderful frontage belonged to office block of the Linotype and Machinery Company Ltd in Altrincham. In it's hey day it employed hundreds of workers and on an adjacent site 172 workers houses were built.
