Newby Hall

Today we went to the beautiful village of Roecliffe near Boroughbridge and walked the 5 mile Roecliffe Ramble

This walk takes one along the banks of the rive Ure as far as Newby Hall. On the way the main feature is the Westwick Lock which lifts river traffic on the way to Ripon.

The mid point of the walk was the highlight for me when we were able to view the magnificent Newby Hall from across the river.

Back in Roecliffe is a lovely pub for refreshments with a lovely scarecrow outside.
