Happy New Year

Allendale, in the northern Pennines, welcomes in the New Year with a huge bonfire in the village square. Flaming tar barrels are carried by a procession of 'Guisers', all in fancy dress, and then at midnight the barrels are emptied onto the waiting bonfire. As you can see in the photo this is no small fire, the flames reach skywards and sparks fly into the night sky. My daughter said it was the best New Year ever! We got home at 1am.
Happy New Year Blippers, one and all!!!!
