A Rainy Day

It wasn't rainy from the start but it was cloudy and the cloud moved down as the day continued. The snow turned buttery and skiing became an exercise in getting down safely, rather than an exhilarating experience. Unfortunately, when it actually started to rain we were far from home, eating lunch with friends of UL (seen here) from our hometown of Härnösand.
Ski lifts in this part of the world tend to the modern and fast but on this day we spent a fair bit of time on primitive button lifts. For the non-skiers they are the little red discs you can see here; placed between your legs they pull you up the hill, slowly.
There are a couple of extras too.
The first is a detail. A skiing holiday isn't all dramatic mountains and long views.  There are many details too and some of them are seen time and time again as we take a certain lift. This tree is such a detail, seen from a lift we use every day and sitting perfectly, right on the crest of this low ridge.
The second extra shows the clouds in the valley, clouds we must ski back down through, listening to the pitter-patter of rain on our helmets.
These pictures are all backblips, published on the 18th March. Today's blip is here.
