The Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare

Today I was in Bristol for a few hours and ended up near Weston-super-Mare in the late afternoon. It had been a beautifully warm spring day with hardly a cloud in the sky. I decided to drive the last 10 minutes into Weston to watch the sunset.

Unfortunately, a heavy fog rolled into town just as I did, and the sunset was a non-event! Thankfully I LIKE fog, even though it was a very different walk along the seafront than I had hoped! The atmosphere was very moody! I enjoyed the chilly walk and rewarded myself with a hot drink and piece of cake in a beachfront cafe.

My plans for the night were uncertain so I booked myself last minute into an old Victorian beachfront hotel that had started its life as Weston College in 1859 and became a hotel in 1889. During WW2 the American Air Force used the premises as a convalescent home.

See the extra photo for some other views of my foggy walk!
