little ray of sunshine

Up at 5 to catch the 6a.m. bus down to the Terrai to stay a couple of days at Chitwan and take in a couple of jungle safari trips before going to Kathmandu. The mountains blessed me by appearing in the dawn light. The road down from Mugling was under construction. It brings in all the heavy goods vehicles and fuel tankers for both Kathmandu and Pokhara so the journey was a series of slow bumps and bruises for 7 hours. Most of the way we followed down the river gorges with white knuckle drops for a thousand feet at the side with no protection - people white water rafting in places. Met at the bus stop by a cheerful driver and ancient pick-up and taken to my hotel. Waiting for lunch I took the pictures of the spiders under our terrace – more of the ones with the zigzags that made the beastie look much larger than he is.  Rather a wasted day in the end – nice surroundings and interesting variety of guests.
