At Rest

Here we have a quiet mallard.  His mate is resting behind
him; they have bonded!  She was moving her head so the
photo blurred thus the cropping, but you can see just a tad
of her body on the left.  Do you suppose those eggs are developing
in her body.  I wonder the length of time between mating
and egg hatching.  Do any of you know??
