End of summer
Not by the calendar, but culturally, it seems this Labor Day weekend is the end of summer for most. Everyone is leaving the island for school or work and tomorrow it will be very quiet. After playing for the last 2 days, today we worked... got the Dory all tucked away in our little boatshed- with new red metal roof that won't leak this winter, and many other chores, including HOURS spent cleaning my refrigerator! (My daughters-in-law as well as my friend Mimi will be pleased to hear this -it's way overdue, and the raccoons got lots of treats today! -but not blip worthy!) Windy all day long, but we managed a row when it calmed down at 5PM ... And then at high tide, almost sunset, we and our across the bay neighbors put our tin boats away in their boathouse. We are all leaving leaving tomorrow and the last thing they did was take the flags down from the flagpole by the boathouse - I just liked this colorful one of J and his 15 year old son who we have watched grow up, and the American flag and the Union Jack,( known as the Royal Union Flag in Canada. There's also a Canadian flag and the Vancouver Yacht club flag.)
Then we had a late last dinner on our deck watching the sunset (blip worthy too!) and bats flying back and forth. I really tried to figure out how to capture a bat - set the timer on 10 shots and focused on roughly where they were flying, but never caught one! any suggestions?
