Polar Plunge
Kayaking this morning. Nice flat calm bay to do it in with a penguin colony Great to have a paddle and get closer to the penguins from a different angle. Had to cut the paddle short so we could get back to the ship to change for the polar plunge. Managed to get the last zodiac over to the island. Stripped off and dived into the water. God it was cold. J had her booties on so she could still feel her feet. She managed to get a few photos with her cold water swimming cap on. Got the last zodiac back to the ship and managed to warm up for lunch. Diving this afternoon on a shipwreck called the Governoren. It was an old Norwegian whaling ship that caught fire and the captain decided to sink the ship to try and put the fire out. They then had to sleep under their wooden lifeboats till help came. Nice wreck when the Polish contingent hadn’t landed on the bottom and stirred up all the slit. Came up to find it snowing. The wreck comes out of the water so we were able stand on it to get the kit off and into the boat. Had a bit of a drive around before going back to the ship.
