Tyntesfield

We are down in Glastonbury with M in L again. As it is such a lovely day we decided to take her to Tyntesfield, which is a lovely National Trust property. It is quite complicated because it involves taking a minibus to the house from the car park if you're not able to walk half a mile. M i L is 90 so she couldn't.
We are members of the NT and we booked our visit and time (which you had to ) on line. When we arrived we were told that we had to hand in our printed tickets and have our NT cards scanned and then we would be given another ticket for the house. First of all my husband was ushered into a non NT member queue, then one person said we needed tickets and another said we didn't so they didn't give us any. No one scanned our cards.
We duly got on the minibus and arrived at the house, whereupon we were asked for our tickets which we hadn't got! They decided that as the staff had all been trained today, and were told not to let ANYONE in without the house ticket and we were the second group this has happened to, that they were going to make a point. M i L was duly plonked on a seat while there were various intercom conversations. M i L has Alzheimers and by this time was getting very agitated, something the staff were failing to grasp. Eventually a 'boss' came and apologised and let us in.
Sadly, it wasn't the success that we had hoped.
Then to come out we had to get someone to escort M i L and my husband down in a lift and apparently she shouldn't have done it because it was someone elses job.......... I think the NT needs to get itself sorted where training is concerned!
