King and Queen

A bronze sculpture cast by Henry Moore in 1953.

After modelling a piece of wax, Moore noticed that he had made a bearded, pan-like head with a crown. The name King and Queen came to him after reading fairy tales to his six year old daughter.

King and Queen was created as six bronze casts plus this one , the artists copy, which is exhibited at the RHS Wisley Gardens.

Had a lovely afternoon at Wisley and was very impressed by the wonderful orchids in their amazing Glass House.

I thought King and Queen would be a good contribution to Silly Saturday Challenge. Thanks to Mischa for hosting this while Admirer was enjoying Venice, and welcome back Admirer who has worked so hard to inspire us blippers to find some silly pictures.
