Earth day

In more ways than one.

A morning of unloading the shopping and getting distracted by interesting things in the garden (sooooo many newts in the pond - hurrah!)

An earth afternoon spent hoicking out a very ancient Echinops from a busy corner of the garden where EVERY summer it lies in wait to spike unwary passers-by. At the same time removed hundreds of opportunist crocus corms which were stealthily trying to take over. After W had finished mucking out the gutters we both got stuck into planting a new bare root hawthorn tree which had been heeled in since just after Christmas. Felt very guilty to have left it so long but I hope it'll appreciate its new home.

Later we got the candles out and switched off all the lights to join in with Earth Day. It was so quiet my tinnitus, which I never normally notice, became deafening - most odd! But it was lovely to have no blue screens anywhere AND, shock horror, to have some time to talk to each other.
