Snowdonia D3
Llyn Caseg-fraith
We split the Chinese kids up today to try and get them to work as the teams they're supposed to be. It worked to some extent.....
The boys left me so concerned with their lack of navigational skills that I decided Id do most of their route keeping an eye on them, I also fancied a big day out. They'll have noticed they bumped into me a bit more than they might expect, and got a few more tips than usual- but for most of the day i took a convoluted out of sight route so that i knew where they were but was invisible to them. It seemed to work - and i even managed to piece together a cheeky 150m scramble up the South side of Y Foel Gogh.
We parted ways at the most scenic llyn in Snowdonia. A nicely improvised straight line scramble dropped me into Cwm Tryfan for the long march out to the valley. The plan was to go and check on the Chinese girls - they should have been in camp. But they'd contrived to make a seemingly easy walk out from Cowlyd Reservoir into an epic. We eventually located them and it seems they are just slow. Another colleague is shadowing them and they should make camp by sundown - 5 hours to go less than 6km.
39,000 steps - on par with an Alpine day :)
