A Favourite Place #2

The Salt Spring Merc is the closest shop to our home, about a 7 minute drive away, and my favourite place for picking up a morning paper and the occasional treat from the little kitchen.  It always smells so tantalizingly good in there:  coffee, freshly baked bread, scones, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, quiche, pizza and lots of other choices.  There's a good selection of groceries and fresh produce, and recently beer and wine have been added as well.  Very handy for us, other locals, and ferry travellers too.  It's a popular place, so it's nearly impossible to get a photo without vehicles parked in front.  A rusty roof in the background.
Formerly Patterson's Market, the shop has quite a history in Fulford and a connection to Scotland as well.  Funny, when I saw the "Rangers" written on the dirty van window, I immediately thought of the Glasgow Rangers and wondered if there was a fan here.  More likely the writer is a fan of the New York Rangers hockey team.  :)  Still a Scot at heart, me, no matter how long I've lived away.
Here's a link to a bit of history about the Market.  Patterson's closed in September 2011 and the Merc opened in April 2012.  We know Bruce Patterson well (he's mentioned in the link), and he's a right character.
