Immigration Museum, Paris

The Palais de la Porte Dorée or "Golden Gate Palace", on the eastern outskirts of Paris. Constructed in 1931, the building formed part of the  Paris Colonial Exhibition of 1931.  Beginning as an ethnological museum, it has evolved in stages. Around 2003 it became the national Museum of Immigration History (Cité nationale de l'histoire de l'immigration).  Our previous visit was five years ago, when my blip showed vivid Art Deco grillwork.

It's a wonderful museum, with periodic exhibitions. I visited the current one, which covers the history of Italians immigrating to France, from the late 19th century to at least the 1960s. Fascinating, with a large range of exhbits, from photos to paintings to consumer products to many video and movie clips.
