Fritillary

A trip to the gym for a session of Pilates. This afternoon was a mammogram so time for photography was at a premium. This Fritillary came to the rescue in the station car park.

I think it is Fritillaria imperialis, commonly known as crown imperial, which is a bulb native to mountainous regions in Turkey, western Iran and eastwards to Kashmir. It is grown for its large and spectacular clusters of bell-shaped flowers in late-spring.

Have a great weekend.
