Red tailed bumblebee

After a lazy morning, I went to the gym and then headed down to the botanic gardens. As I'm now much further south than I have ever lived, I'm really hoping to see a few new bee species. I did see a couple (one completely black furry bee and one very small bee) but they were both too fast for any good photos. I did manage my first sighting this year of my favourite bee species though - the red tailed bumblebee :) it was even a queen which was very exciting! Hopefully I'll manage lots more trips to the gardens over the summer - it's great that Cambridge students get in for free!
