Cyclone Debbie
Cyclone Debbie has been tearing its way around north eastern Australia starting in Queensland and making its way down to New South Wales. Hundreds of mm rain fell in a day, in some places the annual average in 24 hours causing flash floods. Winds of up to 260k/hour are cutting off power to scores.. Energency services have asked people to stay home, closed down schools. People still aren't taking it seriously, splashing about in the water, surfing in the flood currents in one town. It's only when a bull shark appeared in the flowing waters of suburban Ayr that the message hit home.
Even we felt the effects of Debbie and had sudden heavy downpours as far south as Canberra.
