The artichokes are back!

It really looked as if the harsh weather last winter had killed off the artichokes. They are such a statuesque plant and add interest to the garden so would have been sadly missed. It was a relief then to see a leaf appear in the spring and gradually the plant filled out and now they are producing the large, purple thistle like flowers. The bees love them.
Feeling tired today after an early start to the day. Morning shift in the Oxfam shop and once more it has been lovely and sunny. In the afternoon visited an elderly neighbour and had a cup of tea and a 'catch up' on village news. Needed a 'power nap' later to re-charge batteries.
