Ile d'Oleron
Another day, another island! Today we went to the Ile d'Oleron, which is a larger island and one that you can drive to. Set off early again mainly because we knew it was going to be hot and that the kids would probably be ready to leave by mid afternoon.
Indeed it was hot and very windy. But strangely the wind didn't have the cooling effect it usually does. The winds were coming up from the Sahara and today the wind actually made it feel hotter than it was!
This had a big effect on the waves in the sea. When you were in it, there were multi layers of waves all foaming up, so that you felt like you were in a giant washing machine. And then when you came out and walked up the beach it was like being in a giant tumble dryer... very strange!....but the kids loved it and went home very happy.
