East to West in a day
Henry and I were up at 8, breakfasted and packed up to leave by 9. A longish drive to Hoddesdon ensued. Arriving at my friends beautiful farm, hidden in the Hertfordshire countryside at about 11.40 we were loudly greeted by Eric and Ernie, their friendly black labs.
We were there to collect a piece of furniture surplus to their requirements but perfect to store all my card making bits. We got it down the stairs and it neatly fitted in the boot of my car. A quick chat, but with a busy day we moved on to Stanstead Drive. There, a quick hello to mum and dad. They then followed us to Manda's, where we all had coffee together on the patio. Some last minute packing by my niece, who was heading off to Spain later in the day. Then she discovered the brand new sports jumper, made for the trip, had sleeves more designed to fit an orangutan than a 13 year old girl! Cue sewing box, cotton, pins search, and while Manda did the (very tasty roast beef) dinner, I sewed up the sleeves a bit.
At 3pm the Dixon family set off to deliver Iona to the school, and by 4pm after a final cuppa Manda, Hayden, Henry and I were in Manda's car heading to Wales.
Some 3 & a half hours and a bit later, we arrived at our destination. A premier inn in Llantrisant, just outside Cardiff. We plonked our bags and drove back down the road to Pizza Hut. Now, we are feeling fuller than four very full full people. Stuffed. Its the unlimited salad...
Back in our room and settling down...tomorrow we are going to make real money!!!
