Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Painting completed. No accidents. Phew!

Half an hour on the cross trainer an hour extra snooze, working up enthusiasm for the last bit of painting. Didn't manage to work up any enthusiasm for it, but did the final bit anyway. I've completed the circuit, without any accidents. Phew!

Except that JR has declared the cupboard with wooden doors should be white also. And wouldn't it be nice if the bathroom had a nice new coat of paint. I have developed selective deafness.

Popped into town to renew the parking permit. Actually, the car is never there during the parking hours, except for holidays. I wonder if it's better just to pay the daily charge when required rather than the £88 for the privilege of it not being there. I can't be bothered working it out.

One thing I have worked out. My little Magnum treats, at £1.60 a pop are much much more expensive than the own brand boxes of three, with two boxes for £2.50 - ie about 40p each!! I have a box in the freezer, and I am about to reward myself with one, and maybe watch an online episode of The Boss.

I was in the Mile to get the permit, and there are still lots of tourists around. This chap (the character Yoda, I believe, from Star Wars, which I've never seen) was getting a lot of attention. I could see folk looking and pointing, having worked out how he did it. He wasn't even bothering to be a statue, but was just waving his light saber thingie around.

I must say, St Giles must have been wonderful when it was first built, but the stonework now is rather, er, interesting. But it makes for a good background.

Yes, that is a man with a blue face walking by. And why not?
