Lud's Church

Lud's Church is a chasm in the woods near Gradbach in the Peak District.  It is said that it was used as a secret place for worship by reformers who were being persecuted for their beliefs.  It is certainly a surprise the first time you come across it.

You can walk to Lud's Church from Gradbach easily enough, but it is far more interesting to park at The Roaches, climb up onto the ridge (see extras), and then walk to Hanging Stone before returning to Lud's Church, and then returning via Forest Wood and Black Brook.  A lovely 9.5 mile walk on a day like today.
