Which Way To Go?

First volunteering outing with the NT South Lakes Conservation Group. We were at Wray Castle sprucing up the grounds for Easter. The main task was the erection of new finger posts around the grounds (and the removal of the old ones). Amy, a young NT ranger and I put up the pictured post.

The hole we dug was nearly 3' deep and we had to dig through hard core and then it took about 90 minutes to dig out a very large rock. We were finally able to position the post and pack it in with small rocks and soil. Time to complete the task - nearly 3 hours,

Should you visit Wray Castle please admire the finger posts - much effort was expended to get them in!
