Richard, Billy and blown highlights!

Team meeting in Leicester today, which was excellent as it meant I could stay over with my folks and cycle the 12 miles there and back. It was made even better by the sunshine streaming through my curtains as I got up and a north westerly wind that would propel me there with ease.

Arriving a little early I sat outside the cathedral with my cuppa and took a portrait of Billy Brompton with Richard III for the album. However, I didn't check my camera settings beforehand and didn't see that the shutter speed dial was set to 1/4000th so the camera couldn't access DR400 hence the slightly washed out image at ISO 3200. Drat! And, to add insult to injury it was set to jpeg only so no raw to save my bacon.

In the other picture you can see what should have been.

It proved to be a day of not setting equipment correctly as I got 10 miles home to discover I'd set the Brompton saddle height a couple of inches lower than it should have been. I've never done that before in 10 years of ownership but it explains my aching knees and an unnecessary struggle with the north westerly!
