Campfire
Up at six and had a bit of me and daisy time before everyone else on the site joined us. We are right on the river, no mod cons just cold water and loos. There was a nice mix of canoing groups, anglers and families.
Always slow to get going, we spent the morning round the campsite; watching 30 year old scouts head off in their canoes, playing football and down on one knee. We debated going to a steam railway with our french neighbours, but in the end decided on a walk from Symonds Yat to Biblins by the river where we thought we could get a ferry ride back.
It wasn't supposed to be a long walk because of Daisy, she pootled along at her own pace which was slow. When we arrived at the tea shop at Biblins it was ice-creams all round. We also discovered we needed to walk back too, not a problem for us but Daisy was already flat out on the grass, fast asleep.
Anyway, then followed a few more hours slow walking, but she made it.
An evening round the campfire, just me and my sister, as the kids went off to toast marshmallows with their new friends .... they didn't save me one!
