Walking Discoveries!
An alternative walk to Hebden Bridge today, making a real change from my usual canal side amble. After parking down at Luddenden Foot, it was a climb up the valley into the little hidden valley village of Luddenden. It's all windy lanes and old buildings! I wanted to take a trip up Old Lane, which is an infamous cobbled climb many Yorkshire cyclists try to scale. It is only 0.2km but, with an average gradient of 22%, it is very much unforgiving!! My photo is of Old Lane - it doesn't really do the incline justice!
After scaling the cobbles, wandering up through Midgley, it was upwards along Height Road with stunning views across the valley. The clue is in the name as to how high you are on Height Road before dropping down into Hebden Bridge!!
A fantastic change of a walk, a great discovery and a mission accomplished!
