Don't go that way in the big truck
We have the flooring in the dining/living area of the house about 3/4 finished..I say we but even though I did not actually put down but a few locking pieces of wood I did clean up constantly and fetch and carried a few things to the garbage. It is looking very nice and so much better than the old patchwork carpet.
After lunch, I needed to go to the grocery store to get some food for supper and for tomorrow. So I looked on Google and found that Mountain City, Tennessee is only 7 miles from here if I just followed the road in the opposite direction from the normal way we come to the farm.
So I set off in Jerry's big oversized truck on the two lane road. When I came to the Tennessee state lane..the road became ONE lane and was a hairpin obstacle course going uphill with dropoffs on the left (but really pretty views of the mountains). I thought maybe I had missed a turn or something. I kept going hoping all the time that nobody was coming UP the mountain. When I got downhill, where the road became flatter I saw an elderly man getting his mail so I stopped in the middle of the road to ask him if I was on the right road to the grocery store at Mountain City. He said I was and he proceeded to tell me how to get there. He said "Go down this here hill until you see a little white church on the left, turn left around the church..the other way goes to someone's house, then when you see the red roofed church, turn right before you go into the church parking lot..then at the stop sign, turn left again. Go down that road until you see the stop light but don't stop there..you will have passed the grocery store". And guess what..his directions were perfect!
Since no one was behind me coming back, I stopped in the road and took photos. This is one of the high roads that look out over the valley and distance mountains. One of the better ones!
So we have food for supper and for tomorrow..a can of beans but no can opener..a pocket knife works okay for that. The floor should be done, then some clean up, then some kitchen cabinets need to be installed.
I did manage a walk today up the hill behind the house. Saw white wild flowers..no clue what they are as they are so different from what grows in the woods where we live. A photo in the extras of that.
