Riverside walks

An early walk for W and I over to Traprain and up to the top this time. Not the best day for views but still an amazing East Lothian panorama from the summit.

Later we dropped in on dad and L for a quick cup of coffee and to hand over the second part of dad's birthday present. Then off again to meet V and T, MC and Al and the girls at Archerfield for lunch. Al's mum came along too and JT turned up later having been delayed at the office in Edinburgh. Archerfield is a lovely place but possibly victims of their own success: the place was heaving with Good Friday lunchers and the staff seemed to be struggling to keep up but not in the way you'd expect. We ordered starters and mains and were a bit surprised to be brought the whole lot all at once as if they wanted to get our order out of the way so they could get on with serving everyone else. We were balancing plates on our noses in order to be able to accommodate all the dishes. Rather worryingly the staff seemed genuinely baffled when we asked them why we'd received everything in one go rather than the more traditional approach of starters at, well, the start of the meal and before the main courses.

Anyhow, service notwithstanding, the food was OK and it was great to see everyone again. As expected the wee girls were hugely excited to see the teens.

Later we drove back in the pouring rain and after supper, once the sky had cleared, W and I took our cameras for a walk in the setting sun down to East Linton and back (now in the dark!) along the river.

This holiday has been great but I think I'll be on the carrot sticks and beetroot juice for a while after we get home. All these lunches and our waistbands are starting to feel somewhat snug. Only one more to go though.
