A flukey identification ...

Not a lot of images to chose from today but this bloom certainly put the rest of the photos to shame. It's a rhododendron from my neighbour's garden taken as I was returning from Zoe's afternoon walk. The flukey thing was that I was not entirely sure what the plant was but  guessed a rhododendron going by the leaves, but it could equally have bee a azalea. However, the very first image I looked at when I googled rhododendron images was of exactly this variety, Nova Zembla. I don't know how many varieties there are of rhododendron but my guess would be well over a hundred judging from the number of images there are but my job could not have been simpler, got it in a oner !
