97 not out

I have a low maintenance mother. No carers, walking usually without a stick, caters for herself - and others - and keeps herself active. Nowadays she tends to rely on people taking her out although the other day, having been dropped in town, she did her shopping and got the bus home. Today she celebrated her 97th birthday.

My brother and his wife came up from near Henley on Thames - see extra. With our two"children" we went out for lunch. A lovely relaxed day out then back to house for refreshments - and cakes and biscuits she had baked herself.

Masses of cards and flowers, including an unusual chrysanthemum - see other extra - which looked a bit alien.

Most appropriate as we got home just in time for the new Dr Who.
