Not Bad

4 weeks and they are still passable ......... nearly.

I think I have about finished this box.
I might inlay a bit of silver wire round the insert in the base ... or maybe not!
If it wasn't for the mark in the center of the lid base it would be a reasonably convincing optical illusion.

I made a trifle for taking away to our friends'.
I know it isn't finished - but it was a thing of beauty before the cream and crushed Flake went on and hid it.
Before you ask ..... Yes is was highly alcoholic.

This is where we were spending the night with friends ......... The Roundhouse - as made by 9 Fingered Davie.
It doubled up as The Pub with the amount of gin I consumed there.

Although the weather was a bit blowy Davie insisted that his drone would be able to fly quite safely and wouldn't disturb anyone (apart from his wife who really dislikes it) as the house is fairly remote.
I was  surprised at how small it was - and was amazed at how stable it was in the wind.
Now, I am unable to use a remote control car due to a lack of hand/eye co-ordination and the thought of adding in a third dimension was an absolute no-no .... however, Davie insisted on me having a go.
Incredibly I didn't fly it into a tree, the weathervane -- or the ground. It was actually remarkably easy to fly but I actually couldn't stop watching where it was rather than the view from it on the screen.
Fun, but I don't think I will be getting one anything soon - but Mr Grumpy is talking about getting one. Weirdly Mrs Grumpy was not adverse to it.

So, despite from the mixed feelings about drones, the debate from Mr Grumpy as to whether a picture of one person can go into a competition entitled 'People' or not (he was definitely overruled), the amount of assorted gin and wine consumed and the 'pot luck' meal (each couple did a main and a desert) we had a great afternoon and evening which seemed to pass all too quickly.
