La Fondation Maeght

Thank you to those who gave me such lovely and kind comments on yesterday's Blip, really appreciated and I'm thankful for you taking time to have a look!
Today has been another hot and sunny day which is great! Been for lunch at the world famous La Colombe D'or, which has been a hotspot for budding artists and writers for many years! The atmosphere on the terrace is wonderful and is always a prime people watching spot. The food is wonderful but the menu has never changed ever since the restaurant began because the menus are hand-painted. Funnily the prices are written in pencil and you can see where they have erased out numbers and put in higher ones over the years. Still, it was a lovely lunch and we were lucky to sit in the shade so we weren't boiling!
After lunch I decided to visit La Fondation Maeght which is a modern and contemporary art museum holding sculpture, painting and sketches from various artists including Miro, Barbara Hepworth and Chagall. All of the sculptures are displayed outside in the galleries garden, including this fountain. It is my favourite exhibit in the whole gallery because not only is it great to look at but its also very clever. The cylinders are connected to separate pipes, they fill with water and when heavy enough, they tip over and fall through holes at the end of the pipe. A bit like clockwork, because they all fall at different times!
Have a great weekend!! :D
