Here Comes My Train Of Thought

What matters is deciding to get on’

Taking on board
that ‘what matters is deciding to get on’
I hopped aboard.

I had no travel information,
was uncertain of the route
or even if there would be
a worthwhile destination,

but decided to follow
my thought process
to the end of the line.

My mind speeded up.
The countryside blurred.
Ideas whizzed by.
I reached out
but failed to grasp them.

Far too soon
I’d run out of steam.
I slumped in my seat
and came to a halt
at this unmanned station

in the middle of
nowhere.
