Benefits of forgetting

It's official. My mom has a roommate. A new resident arrived from California last night and according to Leah, my mom "is a great helper and knows she has been assigned to make her roommate feel welcomed." I believe that, but I also believe the whole situation will have to be explained over and over. I'm not sure if it helps or hurts that the woman came with no possessions, apparently! When I went into the room this afternoon, all of my mom's colorful pillows were stacked on  the roommate's bed. There was nothing about the room to suggest that anyone but my mom has ever been in it.

Our outing was stress free. No talk of the roommate. All talk of wanting to go home was redirected to the beautiful weather. On our walk from Scudder Pond to Derby Pond and back we saw kids; kids feeding birds; ducks, geese, crows, and seagulls enjoying bread thrown by kids; and a frog. A guy riding along stopped his bike and did a frog rescue. My mom pet it and told the guy she hoped it would be a good pet and would have babies.
