Searching for gold

Returned to our Aire Valley booklet for a saturday walk this morning. It's 10 months since we stopped doing these as only having afternoons available it started to get a bit murky and dark in November.

We haven't resumed them due to corinthian column's commitments with family during the week but it suddenly occurred to us that we could walk on a Saturday!

So we went to Pinhaw Beacon above the lovely litle village of Lothersdale. We are told there are 360 degree views from the top including views of the Dales fells and Malham Tarn. Of course it wasn't that clear today but it was very warm and a most pleasant little walk.

On return to the village we were looking out for a gold postbox as Paralympic archer Danielle Brown is supposed to come from here. We only saw one post box and it was red but various reports put her as living in Steeton or Skipton! Any way we kn ow she trains at our very own St Ives estate archery club.

We did see gold with this super tall sunflower. I took the photo as Chris has organised a fund raising sunflower competition at church and it will be judged tomorrow at our harvest festival. He was just taking his as we set off for our walk. It is pretty tall but the flower is only about one and a half inches across and is yet to open!

This one shows how to do it!
