Laundress Green.
A beautiful sunny day, so I took a walk further up the river Cam. A popular place for a picnic and also on the tourist trail. Laundress Green is where the Cambridge college laundry maids brought the washing and scrubbed it in the river. They would then lay it out on the grass to dry, hence the name. The old house across the river, now part of Darwin college, once belonged to a river trader and there is a stone window and a watergate leading straight into the river where goods were bought or delivered. The extra, which is to the right of this picture is the Mill Pool, and it is the same punt. In the background is the Anchor pub where people are sitting out, enjoying their lunch with a view. A familiar place to me, where I spent many carefree times with my children and friends.
