Tsukiji fish market

Billed as "the biggest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world and also one of the largest wholesale food markets of any kind" it was sure to impress. The main auction takes place about 4 am so we opted to go later and watch the tidying up. Tuna is the focus of most buyers attention, but we were equally interested in the huge variety of other organisms that the Japanese pluck from the sea and think are edible. It didn't put us off our food and we were up for a late breakfast, so Minoru and Mariko chose a local Sushi Bar and did the ordering (which was just as well as not much English was spoken in the back street that we found ourselves in). Simple food, as fresh as you could get, beautiful to look at and extremely tasty. You just have to accept that the fish will be raw.
Time later to follow the tourist trail to the Tokyo Sky Tree and view the sprawling city from above. This place is big.
