Yellow!

I caught this hover fly before it closed it’s wings, as they do. The flower is a pot marigold.
Although the sun was shining again there are few insects other than flies. I saw one honey bee and no bumblebees or solitary bees.

Apparently last night there was an aurora that was visible all over the country. I didn’t know and missed it. As usual, I looked out to the south 2 or 3 times and saw stars, but no colour was obvious. I feel so disappointed. I have seen the aurora only once, 16 years ago. I was awake most of the night, occasionally taking a photo with my SLR. Scanned shots are here- before midnight and after midnight.
