Sunset Over the Big Ben Range

There was a glorious sky this evening.

Earlier in the day I went in search of praying mantis females. I found two still waiting to lay eggs. Also I found two more fresh ootheca. This brings the total to six, which is very promising. Last autumn I saw only one praying mantis female, and no fresh ootheca and feared there might be an end to these fascinating insects in my garden.
