Rhea

Rheas are large flightless birds related to the ostrich and emu. They have the softest looking grey feathers.

Driving down to the Dawck Botanic Gardens near Peebles, we spotted a field with sheep, lambs, donkeys and two rheas. A very peaceful, if curious group as they approached the fence in turn to give the photographers the once over!

The weather was much better than expected in the morning but on our way home we drove through horrendous hail storms which very quickly covered the fields and verges. The poor wee lambs were snuggling as close to mum as they could get.
