Cowslip

Still no sign of the cows over the common but when Polly and I went for a girls' walk this afternoon, while Basil had a haircut, I did come across a solitary cowslip. These were apparently popular with Celtic druids, along with other ritual plants, likely as an ingredient of magical potions to increase the absorption of other herbal constituents. The name 'cowslip' is thought to derive from 'cow dung' because they often grow in it ...and I guess it's slippery...

It looked like spring today but, apart from a couple of hours this afternoon, it didn't feel like it!
