Mornington Peninsula

I made the drive into the Mornington Peninsula today. The place is fantastic. I stopped off at a strawberry farm where they make their own jams, liquors and chocolates. Of course I couldn't resist the strawberry cream liquor... or the chocolate covered strawberries... or the strawberry and pear cider.... it would have been rude!

I also saw my first road sign warning me to mind the koala's!
Every field is full of grape vines in long straight rows. Striking green in amongst the red soil. Taking a picture was impossible as the roads are fast, pot holed and busy! I continued my meanderings further south east through the peninsula to MG General Stores, another winery where free tastings are on offer. Feeling like it was a little early in the morning, and having to drive myself back up north to Melbourne, I regretfully declined, but plan to take part in a three hour horse riding tour of the wineries. For some reason, being drunk in charge of a horse is acceptable in this country... Fair enough!

After the general stores, I decided to swing by a few beaches. The first was Leo's point following by Mornington beach, from where this photo was taken, before coming home and setting up camp in the garden with my ciders. What a lovely day!
