Isle of Arran
My mum, my sister and I took a day trip over to the Isle of Arran to visit my Grandpa - he would usually spend Christmas and New Year with us, but he hasn't been well, so we've all been going over for short visits in installments (some a fortnight ago, us this weekend, others next weekend) to see him instead. I hadn't been on Arran since my dad's 50th back in 2001, and there's something about the island that I really love - I could see myself settling down somewhere like there later in life. It was so lovely when we got off the ferry, the sun had really come out, and the sky was so blue and cold. Another photo I took was just as we arrived in Brodick, of the snow-dusted hills in the sunlight... such a beautiful welcome!
I sat for ages trying to decide which photo to upload, and whether to have this in colour or black and white... eventually I chose this one because it reminded me of photos of my Grandpa's old farm on Arran that I've seen, so it's kind of a tribute to him. Grandpa had got a bit tired so while he went for a lie-down we went for a short dander, when we came across these sheep looking a little like forensic guys, all in a very straight line across the field! Not something I have seen very often...
