Bigger than you think
It features so often in views of the city that I forget just how big it really is. The Dugald Stewart Monument on Calton Hill commemorates the Scottish philosopher Dugald Stewart (1753–1828) who was a professor of moral philosophy at Edinburgh Uni from 1786 to 1828. The tourist at the foot of it, looking for an angle for their picture gives a sense of scale. Taken on the way to another Creative Mornings session - this time at the Fruitmarket Gallery where Z, who was a speaker at last year's TEDxPortobello event, talked about the Invisible (Edinburgh) project that organises guided tours of the city by people who have experienced homelessness in the city. The project was just getting started last May so good to hear it has been going well since then. And also time for a bit of networking with people, both before and after the main event, which was interesting as always. It's a slightly early start to get up town for 8:30 so there's always a bit of friction beforehand but afterwards I'm really glad I made the effort.
