When Queen Victoria resided in Holyrood House she loved the gardens, but Albert wanted them walled in so that she would be safe in her own garden.
Victoria didn't want a wall built around her garden, which was set, nestled at the foot of the Salisbury Crags, as it would spoil her view.
So Albert set about creating a wall, which although it protected her, and made sure that the people on the outside couldn't see in, his beloved Victoria, couldn't see it.
When she came out to look at it, she was astonished, and said "ha ha".
